When you think of famous people in flight, who do you think of? For a lot of people, Wilbur and Orville Wright come to mind. The Wright Brothers hail from Dayton, OH where they developed the first airplane. Then they took to the windy beaches of North Carolina to test their plane. Recently, there has been another historic flight in North Carolina!
In May, we wrote HondaJet: The First Honda in Flight, and we discussed that the first ever HondaJet would be taking off this summer. Honda did not let us down, and on June 27 another historic flight in North Carolina took place. We would have loved for the HondaJet to have taken off from the O’Hare airport or the Aurora Municipal Airport, but we are just happy that Honda has expanded into the sky.
The HondaJet took off from Piedmont Triad International Airport in North Carolina. The HondaJet was able to have a longer, higher, and faster flight than the Wright Brothers about 111 years ago. The HondaJet soared at 15,500 feet for 84 minutes traveling at about 400 miles per hour!
Once the HondaJet receives FAA type certification, the first customers will be able to climb aboard next year. The sky is not even a limit for Honda!
