ZipCar has been around for quite some time now and has more than 10,000 cars and 850,000 members around the world. Just recently, Honda and Zip announced the one-way rental with the 2015 Honda Fit.
OneWay exclusively uses the 2015 Honda Fit and will allow drivers to rent by the half hour when they pick it up and drop it off in a different location. One membership fee will cover both standard Zipcar and ZipCar OneWay.
The wrinkles aren’t quite ironed out just yet, but users will be able to specify a pick-up and drop-off location before renting the vehicle. The 30 minute minimum might also be changed on down the road.
“As we learn the complexity or ease [of OneWay] over the next few months, that will determine our roll-out schedule.” – Kaye Cellie, the president of ZipCar.
